Weather doesn’t really matter when you’re doing what you love, just ask any golfer. There’s plenty on offer for sports lovers (and adventurous types) around Peebles.
Peebles Golf Course
This par 70 course is one of the most picturesque courses in Scotland. It may be a short course but still demands accuracy, making it appealing to golfers of all standards. Visitors are welcome all year round.
Peeblesshire Trout Fishing Association
The Association permit allows fishing for brown trout and grayling on approximately 23 miles of the River Tweed and 5 miles of the Lyne Water. You can buy tickets and permits online from the Association’s website or directly from the team at Peebles Hydro.
Kailzie Fishery is just a few miles south of Peebles on the B7062 – follow the signs for Kailzie Gardens. The fishery is stocked daily to maintain a good head of trout − top quality triploid and blue rainbows starting at 2lbs.
With lots of open countryside, woodland trails and miles of off-road hacking, it’s easy to see why the Scottish Borders is popular with equestrian lovers.
Kailzie Equestrian Centre
Just a few minutes’ drive from the hotel, Kailzie caters for adults of all abilities. They have an outdoor school and plenty of off-road hacking and trekking trails in the surrounding countryside, as well as beach rides at Dunbar.
The stables are situated on the outskirts of Selkirk, around a 30 minute drive from Peebles Hydro. All rides are off-road. Linglie welcomes experienced riders, children and adults, for hacks of one to three hours’ duration. The centre is open from April to October.
Caerleebank Riding School
Caerleebank is only a few minutes’ drive south of Peebles on the A72. They offer riding lessons, hacks and pony rides.
